Antonio Banderas To Star In New Thriller The Last Girl

Academy Award-nominated actor and Zorro franchise star Antonio Banderas is set to lead the upcoming crime thriller The Last Girl. The film is being hemled by prolific director Jon Keeyes. The director recently collaborated with Banderas on the action film Code Name Banshee, which is being released in select theaters and on demand this week on July 1st. Also starring in The Last Girl, penned by Charles Burnley, is Bombshell and Star Trek Into Darkness actress Alice Eve.

According to Deadline, Banderas has been cast in a lead role in The Last Girl. The report outlines that Eve plays a private investigator forced into a dangerous alliance with a killer. The young investigator aims to "uncover a quiet town’s grisly criminal underbelly and clear the name of her mentor," played by Banderas, who is implicated in criminal activity. Filming is currently set to begin on The Last Girl sometime this summer in Ireland. Eve and Banderas will also be joined in the cast by Shelley Hennig, who is known for MTV's Teen Wolf series, and the horror film Unfriended. Jordan Yale Levine, Jordan Beckerman, and Michael J. Rothstein are producing The Last Girl. This team, along with Keeyes, are also producing the recently announced Samuel L. Jackson film The Kill Room.

Banderas' career spans several decades and the actor has appeared in many modern classics, such as Interview With the Vampire, Philadelphia and Desperado. The actor notably lent his voice to the character of Puss in Boots for the Shrek film franchise, before earning his own solo film as the titular character in 2011. Banderas has also recently joined the ranks of the iconic Harrison Ford-led film saga in Indiana Jones 5, which is due to release in summer 2023. Amid Banderas' largely action and adventure-driven film background, The Last Girl marks a departure from the actor's usual roles as he takes on a darker, grittier character. As such, the film seems poised to become one to watch for Banderas fans everywhere.

Jessi Didn’t Know She Was Being Replaced By Sunmi On “Showterview,” But Her Reaction Showcases Her True Personality

Since debuting, K-Pop soloist Jessi has always gained attention for her no-nonsense, blunt, and charismatic personality. Despite the expectations from Korean society, she has always stayed true to herself and proved her worth through her music and other projects that have captured the hearts of netizens.

In particular, one project that Jessi did that captured the hearts of netizens was her online web series called Showterview.

Each weekly episode would have guests from the world of Korean entertainment, and she would be uncensored when speaking to them about their projects. Not only was it always hilarious but Jessi never failed to make her guests feel comfortable while exploring topics of all ranges.

So, when it was announced earlier in the year that it had aired its last episode, everyone was very upset. Yet, netizens were shocked when it was recently announced that Showterview was coming back! But rather than Jessi, it would be hosted by fellow K-Pop soloist Sunmi.

Of course, netizens were sad to see Jessi not returning to the show and wondered why it was the case. However, it seems that Jessi wasn’t even aware of the change in casting and actually found out through fans on social media.

After the announcement was made, netizens commented on Jessi’s posts to share their sadness. When one said how much they were going to miss her, the soloist replied, “Didn’t know. But good luck to them.”

The comment was shocking in itself as many thought Jessi would’ve been the first to know or maybe had turned down another series. In fact, she seemed to have no idea the show was returning and that she wouldn’t be part of it.

Although Jessi seemed quite blunt, the idol recently addressed the issue on an Instagram live as many thought she was resentful towards new host Sunmi. During the live, Jessi explained that she was being honest and that she was happy for Sunmi.

"I am in a place right now, and this is from the bottom of my heart, like there’s no point for me to bulls**t about anything. I really wish the best for Sunmi." — Jessi

She explained that after the show ended, there were no certainties about the future of Showterview. Yet, she seemed rightly nostalgic as she reminisced on the show and explained that the station brought it back, just without her.

"I took a break. We weren’t sure if we were going to come back or not, most likely we weren’t. But, nothing was finalized, but I guess someone, my friend Sunmi, they replaced me." — Jessi

Jessi then shared that she understood that fans might find it weird, especially considering how unique and unbothered the idol’s approach was to the show. Jessi even revealed that she was given a script but threw it out of the window to make it more fun.

"To be honest, I know that it’s going to be different because, I know guys, one thing about ‘Showterview’ is it was not scripted. When they gave me that script, I said, ‘F**k that, I’m doing it my way.’" — Jessi

Although some people might be bitter about the fact they had been replaced, Jessi showed her true personality by encouraging fans to continue watching the show and supporting Sunmi.

"I’m glad that somebody else is doing it because it’s better than nothing, I guess. So, please guys, show a lot of love to Sunmi and a lot of love to ‘Showterview.’ I didn’t know, I just found out yesterday when one of my fans told me. I didn’t feel bitter at all." — Jessi

The idol then explained that Sunmi is a lot more conservative than she is, but added that it shouldn’t stop fans from watching and supporting the show. Jessi added that it might be different, but “sometimes different is good.”

Jessi might come across as blunt but the idol is truly one of the sweetest people in K-Pop. She could’ve easily been bitter about losing her role on Showterview, but instead, she encouraged fans to support Sunmi and the show no matter what the format.

On June 26, Jang Nara privately held her wedding at the Bonelli Garden in Seoul with her family and acquaintances. Jang Nara’s close friend Park Kyung Lim was in charge of hosting the event. The actress’s agency Lawon Munhwa shared photos of Jang Nara at her wedding in her beautiful dress as well as a photo of her walking down the isle with her father, actor Joo Ho Sung.

At the wedding, CNBLUE’s Jung Yong Hwa who co-starred in “Sell Your Haunted House” with Jang Nara, sang “Love Light” to congratulate the couple. He remarked, “While filming ‘Sell Your Haunted House,’ I promised [Jang Nara] to sing at her wedding if she gets married. In celebration of 75 years of Dior, Joo Ji Hoon participated in a photo shoot wearing the iconic fashion brand’s clothing. He shared his thoughts on the outfits, saying, “I could feel the craftmanship in the detail of every item, and I think that makes Dior even more unique. I can feel through the fit and the silhouette the hard work of the designer who must have thought endlessly about how to make each item of clothing more perfect.”

The actor once mentioned that “humor” was his most important keyword. He followed up on his declaration as he commented, “Just like how your preferences evolve as time goes by, my sense of humor is also changing. Fortunately, there always seems to be someone that clicks with my sense of humor on set. Since the person whose sense of humor fits well with mine is always changing, it’s hard to choose any particular one.”

In an interview two years prior, Joo Ji Hoon had shared that he wanted to ride a bicycle for so long that his legs would burst. A YouTuber Randomly Met Jungkook In An Alley… All Because He Needed To Pee!

One lucky man now has his bladder to thank for a chance encounter with BTS‘s Jungkook.

One Korean YouTuber by the name of YAN posted these photos on Instagram (@yan.youtube), promising to reveal the story behind them soon.

True to his word, YAN uploaded his video the next day. On the night he met Jungkook, YAN was out drinking and reminiscing with old friends.

Little did YAN know that this ordinary gathering was about to take a surprising turn. After drinking his fill, YAN went off in search of a restroom to empty his bladder. Unfortunately, the place he and his friends were at didn’t have a restroom, so he had to go out and search for one.

After he finally found a restroom, YAN made his way back to friends by walking through an alley. Suddenly, a stranger in a bucket hat approached YAN to say hello. As a YouTuber, YAN gets recognized by fans in public, but he had no idea that this “fan” has millions of his own!

At first, YAN mistook Jungkook for a student.

The combination of Jungkook’s hat, which was pulled low, and the alley’s darkness made it difficult for YAN to recognize the star.

At one point during their small talk, Jungkook mentioned BTS, but YAN didn’t quite hear it. “He talked very respectfully with a gentle voice,” YAN recalled, “I didn’t hear exactly, but I caught the word BTS.” Even once Jungkook’s words registered, YAN couldn’t believe it. Meeting BTS on the street? It doesn’t happen!

Even after Jungkook kindly agreed to take photos together, and they’d said their goodbyes, YAN didn’t really believe what had just happened. Neither did his friends!

It was only after YAN saw the photos on his phone the next morning that the reality sank in. He really did meet Jungkook, and it’s all because he needed to pee!

BTS Announces Indefinite Hiatus From Group Activities + Opens Up About Their Concerns

BTS has announced that they will be taking a hiatus from group activities in order to focus on their solo careers.

On June 14, the group wrapped up their 2022 BTS Festa—their yearly celebration of the anniversary of their debut—by releasing a video in which they shared a meal and made an important announcement about their future.

After the BTS members enjoyed some drinks and chatted together, Suga began the conversation by saying, “So we’ve entered an off-season,” which the video’s official English subtitles translated as “We’re going into a hiatus now.”

“Should we talk about why we’re not doing FESTA [this year] and why we haven’t made much new content?” continued Suga. “We have to talk about the direction we’re taking.”

RM then opened up about struggling with BTS’s identity in recent years, explaining, “Up until ‘ON’ and ‘Dynamite,’ I felt like the group BTS was within my hands. But as we did ‘Butter’ and ‘Permission to Dance,’ I didn’t really know what kind of group we were anymore.”

He went on to talk about just how hectic and busy idol life was, noting, “There’s no time for me to grow. Not just in terms of my skills, but as a human. I’m a very different person from who I was 10 years ago, and I need time to think and be on my own, so those thoughts can mature into something uniquely mine.”

“But after spending the past 10 years as BTS, while carrying out our busy schedule together, I can’t mature,” continued RM. “There’s no time for me to think. I have to know what kind of person I am, what kind of group BTS is, why I’m here, what the other members mean to me, and the path we need to take in the future; I need to keep these things in mind while doing interviews and writing lyrics. But starting from a certain point on, I haven’t been sure what kind of group we are.”

Jimin observed, “I think we’re just now starting to think about what kind of artist we each want to remembered as by our fans. I think that’s why we’re going through a tough time right now, because we’ve entered a phase where we’re only now trying to find our identities.”

Suga added that because he’s been so drained recently, he’s been struggling to find inspiration when it comes to songwriting. “The hardest thing is writing lyrics,” he said. “I can’t think of anything to say. I have to write about things that I personally feel and want to say, but I feel like I’m just forcing things out right now… and that’s so difficult.”

RM reiterated that he felt he needed time to focus entirely on his solo music, explaining, “In the past, I was somewhat able to balance working on my music alone with our group activities, but now I can’t do them at the same time. I can’t be doing group activities and then just flip a switch and change everything to focus on my own work. I realized I really need some time on my own.”

V recalled, “J-Hope told me this before: ‘We can all really focus on our solo activities for the time being, and then when we come back together as a group, that synergy will be like no one else’s. It’ll be better than before.” Jimin chimed in, “To be honest, J-Hope talked about this kind of thing a lot.”

Jin also shared, “Doing group activities for so long—just like you guys mentioned earlier, I started to feel like I’ve become a machine. I have my own hobbies and things I want to do on my own.”

RM went on, “When people hear our group name, they say, ‘Oh wow, BTS.’ But honestly, people don’t really know who each of the members are. Since we’re singers, I think it’d be most impactful for us to show [who we are] through our music and performances. So from now on, we’re going to release [solo] albums instead of mixtapes.”

J-Hope later added, “I’ve said this a lot to the other members, but I think we need to spend some time apart to learn how to come together again. I think this timing is really important, so I hope you don’t see this in only a negative light.”

Suga emphasized, “It’s not like we’re disbanding.”

Last week, BTS made their long-awaited comeback with their anthology album “Proof” and its title track “Yet to Come (The Most Beautiful Moment).” Before their hiatus from group activities, they will be performing their new song on music shows this week.

HYBE CEO Park Jiwon has personally denied all rumors of BTS potentially disbanding and spoke up about the group’s future plans.

Following a tumultuous day with the reveal of BTS’s upcoming second chapter where they will focus more on solo acitivites, a late-night statement from HYBE reiterating that the group was not going on hiatus, and a steep drop in HYBE’s stock prices, HYBE CEO Park Jiwon sent out an internal email to all HYBE employees to once again clarify what is happening with BTS’s situation.

"I am sending out this email to everyone as you may be hearing various different reactions outside the company, so this will be our clear explanation.

Through the BTS Festa Dinner Party, BTS conveyed their desire to expand the range of their activities by combining group activities and individual activities for the continued growth and maturing of the group. Portions of the video are being blown out of proportion and interpreted incorrectly, leading to the spreading of false information." — Park Jiwon

Park Jiwon clearly shut down the rumor of disbandment, saying there wasn’t a single consideration of that possibility.

"BTS is not even considering disbanding the team at all, and there is nothing going on regarding any process of disbanding the group." — Park Jiwon

He continued, reiterating that their wishes of growing individually does not mean they are halting group activities.

"BTS’s message of taking a break from group activities [to focus on individual activities] does not mean they will be completely stopping [group] activities. The scope of their activities will be carried out in a way that has more variety, as we plan to carry out both team activities and individual activities together. This will provide them the opportunity to leap forward and grow as artists." — Park Jiwon

Finally, Park Jiwon mentioned the individual activities for the members, for which the plans have already been in the works.

"[The plans for the individual activities] have already been set up or are currently in the works. They will be announced soon, and there will be a synergistic effect between the individual activities and the team activities.

In the case of group activities, activities for the Proof album are already in full swing and additional group activities are in the process of being set up.

BTS has had long-term breaks in the past before, and through this period of individual activities, each member will be able to have their own break and individual activities.

Colin Farrell To Star In Genre-Bending Apple TV+ Series

The Batman star Colin Farrell is set to lead Apple TV+'s new series Sugar. The streaming giant behind this year's Best Picture winner at the Oscars, CODA, Apple TV+ has shown itself to be a worthy competitor in the crowded TV and movie landscape, especially in recent months. The streamer has also had no trouble attracting A-list talent, with Claire Danes and Tom Hiddleston currently starring in its series The Essex Serpent.

Now, Apple TV+ announces that Farrell is attached to play the lead role in the upcoming series Sugar, with the Irish actor also set to executive produce the project. City of God director and Academy Award-nominee Fernando Meirelles is set to helm the series as well as executive produce. I Am Legend screenwriter Mark Protosevich is the creator and executive producer of Sugar, which Apple TV+ describes as "genre-bending." According to Variety, the show's plot is being kept close to the vest, but it's described as a Los Angeles-based, modern take on the private detective story.

Fresh off playing iconic villain the Penguin in Matt Reeves' The Batman, Farrell is also set to appear in the drama film The Banshees of Inisherin, which will see him reunite with his In Bruges co-star and director, Brendan Gleeson and Martin McDonagh, respectively. With the plethora of proven talent involved in Sugar both in front of and behind the camera, audiences can expect to be taken on a memorable journey when the series eventually makes its debut on Apple TV+.
