Where To Spot Pixar's Pizza Planet Truck Easter Egg In Lightyear

Keeping with tradition, Disney's new Lightyear film features the classic Pizza Planet delivery truck. An iconic Easter egg seen in nearly every Pixar film, the 1978 Gyoza Mark VII Lite Hauler pickup truck was first featured in 1995's Toy Story. As such, it only makes sense that the pickup truck would find its way into the new Toy Story spin-off film (somehow making it to the far reaches of uncharted space).

Serving as a large source of evidence for those who believe the 'Pixar Theory'  where all the movies are supposedly connected in the same universe, the Pizza Planet truck has been featured in every film aside from 2004's The Incredibles (though it was featured in the video game adaptation). While it's most prominent in the Toy Story franchise, such as when Woody and Buzz hitch a ride in the first film or when several of Andy's toys work together to drive the truck in the sequel, the yellow and white pickup has always had some sort of role, however small. In WALL-E, the truck's engine was scanned by the titular robot. In Brave, it was seen as a wood carving made by The Witch. The Cars films even saw the truck coming to life as its own background character with the name Todd.

Now, Disney and Pixar's Lightyear features the traditional Pizza Planet truck on Tkani Prime, a planet in uncharted space where Buzz and Star Command have been marooned. Desperately in need of hyper-fuel, Buzz makes multiple attempts to test different solutions and their ability to reach hyperspeed. However, years go by on Tkani every time Lightyear makes an attempt thanks to the effects of time dilation. Eventually, decades pass for those Buzz has been trying to save, resulting in Star Command eventually deciding to live on the planet for the long term. Unwilling to give up, Buzz makes one last attempt despite his orders to abandon the mission. It's here where the Pizza Planet truck can be spotted by eagled-eyes viewers, seen on the left while Lightyear and his robot cat Sox escape security guards and drive to the Space Ranger's ship.

Taking place during a high-action chase sequence, the new Pizza Planet Easter egg can be easily missed. While some might wonder how a Pizza Planet truck made its way to uncharted space along with Star Command, stranger Easter eggs have occurred with the 1978 Gyoza. Case in point, The Good Dinosaur (set in the prehistoric era) saw the pickup at the very beginning of the film perched atop an asteroid.

Clearly, the Pizza Planet pickup truck is an Easter egg that transcends both time and space. As such, it's good to see the classic Pixar tradition continue in the midst of this new film, which features several other references and callbacks, both to the Toy Story franchise and the sci-fi genre in general. While there are plenty of Easter eggs to enjoy in Disney and Pixar's Lightyear movie, it would have been tragic had the delivery truck been omitted from this new film.
